This project will be a remodel of an existing finished basement space (see pictures). The goal of this project is to create a modern look and upgrade to a full bath (shower stall is ok). The house was built in the 1970's and has pretty dated faux wood panels that need to go. The budget of this project is $13,000. I plan to do all the demolition work myself.
There was an addition put on the back of the basement which now is a recreation room with a billards table. The back wall that divides the two rooms used to to the exterior wall and had a window but that space is now a big bookshelf. I wouldn't mind removing that and creating more of an open space, but I don't know how much of that wall can be removed since it is likely load-bearing. Also, the HVAC system currently hangs under the ceiling in the laundry room and there may be a troublesome beam running across the main room (see pictures). The wall dividing the laundry room and basement can be removed or changed.
The bathroom can be connected to the laundry room or be a separate room. If it makes any difference, the laundry machines that I own are both front loaders.
I look forward to seeing some modern looks and creating something new and exciting.
