According to the client requirements, I designed a bedroom which includes in it the reading space as well as the tv angle. As i saw the photos uploaded, the room has a lot of natural lighting. In the modelling i left the window trim as they actually are, but i thought that a system of double curtains could control the amount of natural light in the bedroom. The double curtain system consist of two different curtains, one behind the other. The curatin nearest the to the glass window, I chose to be of white color, very thin, and transparent while the other which is in front of the first, should be thick fabric curtain, maybe with a color near blue, without any texture or figure printed but that depends on your preferences. In this way the light can be controlled, open the thick not transparent curtain and the room gets darker even during the day. It's a simple and more traditional way than using shutters which are more expensive actually. I thought that the best place where a reading angle should be is near the windows. A comfortable armchair with a stool, natural light and a good reading process. I positioned a bookcase near the armchair as well, in the wall between two windows. It`s a combination of a bookcase and a table, with some modulated boxes for the book, clear lines, enough space for a small bedroom library and a reading table in it. It`s made of white wood, a little shiny surface, very modern and simple indeed. If you use the reading space during the evening, a lamp is needed, so i thought that a floor reading lamp, with a nice arc, should be placed behind the armchair, so that the light falls right into your book while you stay sitting there and reading.
As for the bed, i placed it with its long side facing the windows. There are two reasons why i did so.
First it`s because of the natural light. As you wake up in the morning, it`s better to be faced with a nice view, that of a lighted window ruther than seeing a narrow hall entering your room. The second reason is that while entering the room from the hall, what you see is much more than a bed in front of you. Whith the bed in this new position you perceive the space in a better way. You see the bed, the reading spca, the bookcase. It looks more organized, a warmer space as a bedroom should be. I tried to use straight lines, simple furniture, less is more sometimes. I liked a lot the bedside Como called "baby" it is small and the fact that more than half of it is furniture, it gives the idea that it stand in the air , without touching the floor. I used also a reading lamp, como stand as the one in the photo attached. I placed the TV on the opposite wall with that of the bed, up to where the window is placed so that the light can`t make it difficult to be watched. In that side the TV is nearer to the bed aswell so you can watch TV easily from the bed.
All the furnitures are of white wood except of the bed, the stool and the armchair. The "mamy blue" armchair is an interesting combination of blue and beige. leather material, colors that can be considered as warm and friendly for the eye. It is an armchair for reading, dreaming and meditating, designed for relaxation. The bed is a combination of white, pana leather and light grey pillows. It`s a king size bed designed by Poltrona Frau, leather enhanced by beautiful quitted stitching and with a headboard structure created from solid beech and poplar frame with MDF panels.
As for the wall colors, i painted the wall where the bed is, in light grey while the wall in front of the enter, i painted it with the blue marine color, that suits fine with the white of the bookcase, the beige and the blue of the armchair, and the dark brown of the wood floor. A color that creates contrast with the rest of the room, it gives the idea that that space is for a different purpose and at the same time, if reduce the impact that the light has, i mean the large amount of light.
As the result, i think i created a warm relaxing space, not just a simple bedroom, but a well organised space, with some little extra functions. Hope you like it as i do.
