This design utilizes a galley kitchen to make the arrangement of the back rooms more flexible, make the doors to the back rooms less prominent, and create a more functional foyer and kitchen.
This is one of the very few designs that reflects "thinking out of the box" in terms of solving this architectural problem. It is also one of the few designs that paid attention to the stated shortcomings in the original plan. However, the galley kitchen didn't work for us in the way it was executed; it seemed, for instance that the refrigerator had a little too much prominence as one enters the unit. The chubies idea also didn't work for us (all those cubies to dust!). Nevertheless, this was an outstanding design---one that was very close to the best of 16 submissions (with 27 participants signing on). Thank you for your efforts!
