I would like to design a backyard with a small koi pond with lighting and a small waterfall, extra paved or concrete area for mingling or dining, with room for a Bbq grill and/or a small firepit. The back porch is quite nice, with a tall ceiling, but I wish that I had a little more dry area, without blocking out the sun from shining into the porch and the house. Maybe a clear fiberglass roof extension? The back porch faces east, with a north exposure, so even in the summertime we do not have any problems with too much sun. I really love the quality of the light that comes in the living room windows and I don't want to lose that. The house was built in 2010, so I have the builder's drawings of the house, yard, irrigation system, etc, to simplify the calculations. I can also upload lots of pictures and a "visual tour" of the backyard as it is now. There is electricity easily available in back, and the gas main into the house is about 15-20' from the patio area. We have considered cutting the back yard in half so that our landscape area could be small but perfect. Although the back fence is 6' tall, the yard slopes down, so the fence does not give us as much privacy as we would like. The entire yard doesn't have to be highly private, but it would be nice if we could have some screening of the entertainment area. I would expect to spend more than $10k, but probably not more than $15k.
