The home currently has a dated look, is in good condition, and recently painted. This project only involves the front area of the house (planters, porch, and facade).
The goal of this project involves simply updating what is currently in place and not making any significant changes to the planters, house, or irrigation system.
Currently the planters are overgrown and are rather unattractive looking. I would like to remove all of the plants and replace them with a modern updated look, giving the front yard more color and depth. In addition to the planters, I want to paint or change the appearance of the existing red brick planters and red brick on the front of the house. The three front posts on the porch have a decorative pattern that I would prefer to either restore to simple posts or make them more modern looking. (The posts can't be entirely removed for structural reasons, but could be modified.) The final design should reflect a modern, clean look. The address of the home is: 1108 Stevely Avenue, Long Beach, CA 90815
Use the existing planters. (Either paint or change their appearance.)
Design should include all new plantings except the front lawn.
Changing the red brick on facade of house. (paint, stucco)
New landscape lighting in all planters.
Two front planters that straddle front door do not have any irrigation.
Open to clean look inside the planters: decomposed granite, gravel or stones
Low maintenance and open to drought tolerant plants.
There is presently no address number (1108) on the facade of the house; I would like to find a place where it could be displayed.
Trying to keep the project budget to an affordable level.
Modern look influenced by mid-century modern design.
Must get rid of "red brick" look.
