My partner and I purchased a very neglected modern home an hour outside of NYC in September 2014. We have been renovating/rebuilding the interior for the past four months and are now at the point where we need to pick the house exterior material and color, and come up with a design for the landscaping. Due to budget and climate constraints (the house is at the top of a mountain and subject to strong winds and harsh winters) real wood is out of the question. We want a low maintenance siding material such as vinyl or fiber cement. One material we found is vinyl siding that looks like cedar shingles. The house is on a large lot with incredible views but needs privacy from the road so we would love a natural privacy hedge of sorts.
Submissions need only be renderings and material or plant descriptions. Exact blueprints are not necessary. The only description of the property I can provide are photos and some videos I uploaded onto YouTube so let me know if there are any questions. The photos I've uploaded show the house in different stages of renovation. A lot of big trees were removed because they were leaning on the house and some large windows on the side view were replaced with smaller ones because they looked onto the ugly green detached garage on the site.
