Looking for a floor plan for family living room. We've lived in the house for 2 years now and have been struggling to find a layout that works in the challenging space - the entry doors and fireplace are not centered, there are many doors to work around, and large radiators below the sizable windows on either side of the room.
We are specifically interested in furniture placement, that includes sizes and style of items (e.g., xx-inch depth armless chair, xx-diameter circular end table). Please include furniture, lighting, rugs, and some thoughts on how to pull together a color scheme based on pieces we'd like to keep (see below) - for example, one of the key pieces that we're not looking to change at this time, if possible, is the red sofa since our children are still very small.
The space is our main living space and is a multi-purpose room that is used by our young family to read, play, watch tv and entertain. We do not have formal spaces in our house, and our house tends to mix styles, but leans towards a more clean, mid-century modern feel. We are not huge tv watchers, but it is the only space with a television, so it would need to be somewhat functional for that.
Important to us is having ample seating, a good path from the front foyer to the sun room (which is used as a children's toy room), some room for kids to play on the floor, usability of the fireplace. It is okay to block the exterior door to the right of the fireplace, as this is mostly unused. Also okay to place items in front of french doors leading to the foyer, as they are left open all the time.
If possible, work into the floor plan the following existing pieces: red 3-seater sofa (82"x34"), oriental rug (97"x109"), large sisal rug (19'6" x 10'x4"), slate wing back chair (Louis Chair, Room and Board).
Things to avoid: no TV above the fireplace, no blocking of the fireplace since it is used in the wintertime.
