Project Description
This Kitchen/Bathroom remodel challenge incorporates the client’s requirement of a creative, affordable solution to maximize the functionality of the space.
Two small demolitions, on the interior wall around the bathroom, are necessary to increase the functionality of this studio-flat. One of them is required to create a niche to integrate a fridge/freezer, and the other is necessary to move the bathroom door to insert a high cabinet behind the door.
New storage is located between the kitchen and the front door. It is made with plasterboard wall and a folding door.
My design concept is focused to achieve the clean look.
I suggest to make the kitchen floor with laminate flooring used in the living room that gives the flat a feel of fluidity.
The kitchen needs to achieve the client’s request of "Renter-friendly". I propose white cabinets and oak worktop and shelves. All the kitchen elements are situated on one side to make this area more functional and affordable than the existing kitchen. The furniture is located 3.93' from the wall. Behind the base cabinets there is a porcelain tile wall, 4' high, for easy maintenance.
The result is a kitchen that strikes the functional balance that the client is
looking for and the aesthetic balance that the apartment needs.
The wall claddings and the ceramic floors are replaced with porcelain tiles. The shower plumbing can be relocated inside the external wall. The location of shower and toilet drains are not changed. A top-loading washing machine (W 1'- 3 3/4") is a good solution for a studio-flat. The shower has tempered glass panels. White shelves are hung on the top of the washing machine and a electric towel rail is located next the sink. The hung toilet is connected to the existing drain that is inside wall.
